Overview
This guide will highlight potential issues that could disrupt a customer's SFTP connection. Merge will detect and provide detailed remediation steps that can be sent to your customers to quickly resolve the connection issues.
Issue types and resolution
There are two categories of SFTP Issues that Merge will create. One type requires intervention from your customer to remediate in order to establish a successful SFTP connection. The other type of SFTP Issue is meant to serve as a warning that there could be missing data due to the file formatting.
Required intervention issues
Unrecognized file name
This Issue will be generated when a customer sends a file with a name that is not one we've listed in our SFTP guides. The solution would be for the customer to rename their SFTP files to one that's a recognized report template name.
Unsupported file type
This Issue will be generated when the customer sends a non-CSV file. The solution would be for the customer to update the SFTP files to be CSV file types.
Warning issues
Incorrectly formatted row
This Issue will be generated as a warning when there is an incorrectly formatted row within the SFTP file that was sent. An example of this would be a situation where there are cells within the SFTP file that are incorrectly merged.
This is a warning for you and your customer to validate if there is important data being missed due to the merged rows. If the customer confirms that there's no missing data, this Issue can be resolved or muted.
Required fields missing
This Issue will be generated as a warning when there are required column headers missing from the SFTP file.
This is a warning for you and your customer to validate if there is important data being missed due to standard columns not being included in the report. If the customer confirms that there's no missing data, this Issue can be resolved or muted.
